Why we’re building it
It started
with a longboard.
An existing design. A few changes to the nose. And a need to see exactly what those changes did to the rest of the board.
That’s the idea behind Surf Shape Studio: a place to work through a board design without losing track of the one you started with.
You might have a measurement in mind. You might want to move a curve by hand. Or you might describe the change the way you would to a shaper. The important part is being able to look at the result and decide for yourself.
The shaping bay still matters.
A drawing can show you what changed. It can’t tell you how the board will feel under your feet. The shaper’s judgment, the build, and the time you spend in the water all matter.
We’re starting with a private workspace and real board files. The studio is still in development, with geometry and file compatibility being checked before release.
